AI credits
AI features across Octri (the ask-the-docs chat and generated documentation) are metered in credits. Every plan comes with credits, so these features work on every account and are simply paced by what you spend.
What uses credits
Credits are spent only when an AI feature does work for you. A credit is a small fixed unit of AI cost (about $0.002 of work). Every metered action costs one credit today; a heavier feature added later would cost more.
| Feature | Cost |
|---|---|
| Ask-the-docs chat answer | 1 credit |
| Generated endpoint doc | 1 credit |
| Browsing, editing, publishing | Free |
Reading your docs, editing pages, generating SDKs, and everything else in the studio cost nothing. Credits apply to the AI features above.
Your allowance
On a paid plan you get an allowance that refills at the start of every billing cycle, from 1,000 credits on Starter up to 5,000 on Business, with Enterprise negotiated. You can see your current balance and this cycle's spend under Settings → Billing → AI Credits.
On the Free plan, credits work differently: you get 100 to try the AI features, granted once when you sign up. They don't refill each month, so when they run out you can upgrade or buy a credit pack.
On paid plans the allowance resets to the same number each cycle rather than accumulating. Purchased credits (below) are the ones that carry over.
Running low
Top up anytime with a one-time credit pack. Purchased credits never expire, and they're used only after your plan's credits run out.
| Pack | Price |
|---|---|
| 1,000 credits | $10 |
| 5,000 credits | $45 |
| 20,000 credits | $160 |
Prefer not to think about it? Turn on auto-refill under Settings → Billing to top up automatically on a schedule or whenever your purchased balance runs low.
